Eating Disorder, OCD & Perinatal Mental Health
Whether you are working on your relationship with food, your body, your journey to or through motherhood, or the intrusive thoughts that are taking over your life— I am so happy to support you along the way! I am a licensed counselor that specializes in eating disorders, OCD and all things motherhood with the goal of helping young women and moms find peace in their bodies.
Because every body deserves peace.
Compassionate, personalized care tailored to you.
You’re probably trying your best to hold it all together. The expectations and pressure of what to look like, how to show up, and even how to parent are all consuming. The hardest part is— you just want to be happy and thought holding yourself to these high standards would lead to that. What if there is another way? After recovering myself, and becoming a mom, I saw how isolating these pressures can be and how often we expect ourselves to figure it out alone. But you don’t have to!
Meet the Founder & Licensed Therapist
Hi, I’m Abby!
I started this practice with the goal of giving you something different with treatment after lived experience with an eating disorder and OCD. No more treatment that expects you to fit the “one-size-fits-all” template, but instead care that is collaborative, that not only gives you — but amplifies— your voice and autonomy over your body. Care that emphasizes your needs as well as your past and how you got here. Care that doesn’t need you to show up in any specific way to be validated and heal.
I know all too well what the turbulence of recovery feels like and the fear involved with change. I understand the desire for better, but the fear in letting go. My goal is to foster a nurturing, authentic connection not only in the therapeutic space but within yourself! I want to hear what you are ready to do, and support you with the skills and space to get where you want to be at a pace you are comfortable with.
Healing is Real and Raw. But you were never meant to do it alone.
My Approach
There are a few things you should know about working with me:
⁕ Thoughts aren’t bad.
Hear me out. We know you’re probably thinking of 1 or 2 right now that you would call “wrong” or “bad”. But when you work from a place of curiosity and acceptance, there is so much we can learn from them! The work we do is focused on better understanding and accepting these thoughts so they don’t feel so scary, or make you feel so bad, anymore.
⁕ Our goal is body neutrality not body positivity.
Don’t get us wrong, body positivity is wonderful, but it is also REALLY HARD to achieve in our culture! If we work towards neutrality, the focus is on loving your life, not just your body.
⁕ Treatment should and will be size-inclusive.
What does that mean? All bodies, regardless of weight, shape or size, deserve treatment and support in healing their relationship with their body and food. All treatment at Beautifully You is size inclusive and HAES aligned!
⁕ You know a lot more about your body than we do.
Yeah, we have some experience and credentials- but that doesn’t make us any more of experts than you. We’re trying to figure this out, too! You might feel like your mind or body are foreign to you right now. But our goal is to get you back to feeling like the expert on yourself.
⁕ No foods are bad, and your body is not inherently wrong.
Just like bodies, food is neutral! There is no morality attached to it! All foods fit, and your body is not wrong for existing the way it does! Together, we can work on self compassion and permission to eat the foods that fuel you to live a happy life!
